Pianist and composer Andrew Toombs has spent more than two decades building a remarkable career as a performer, collaborator, and musical storyteller. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, he began playing piano at age six, studying both classical music and jazz by age eight. A child prodigy, he was performing professionally by age eleven and made his solo debut with the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra at fourteen, later appearing multiple times with both the Pops and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.
A graduate of Cincinnati’s School for the Creative and Performing Arts, Toombs continued his studies at the Chicago College of Performing Arts before completing his education on full scholarship at Berklee College of Music in 2007. Since then, he has become one of the most versatile pianists of his generation, equally at home in jazz, soul, hip-hop, gospel, and popular music.
Throughout his career, Toombs has shared the stage with an extraordinary range of artists, including Common, Roy Ayers, Carole King, CeCe Winans, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Kenny Rogers, Faith Hill, Bootsy Collins, Benny Golson, Dave Brubeck, Ted Nash, Marquis Hill, J. Ivy, and Yolanda Adams, among many others.
