Although he is currently the Assistant Professor of Double Bass at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, Adam Booker has spent the majority of his adult life performing in Austin, New Orleans, and the upper Mid-West, performing in styles ranging from straight ahead jazz, salsa, country, and orchestral and solo repertoire. Adam joined the SPR family with his first release as a leader, Unraveled Rival, in 2015. His follow up record, Seven Last Words, was released in January of 2020, and features John Raymond on trumpet. Seven Last Words explores Adam’s versatility as both a jazz musician and classical soloist with the inclusion of Seven Last Words From the Cross for Unaccompanied Double Bass by UK composer, David Heyes alongside Adam’s original compositions. A European tour in 2019, which included workshops and performances in Edinburgh, St. Andrews, Bristol, Well’s Cathedral in the United Kingdom, as well as a three-day residency at the Royal College of Music in London, and a residency and recital at the Boccherini Institute of Music, culminated in what is now Adam’s most recent release, Lucca Live, featuring Italian musicians Alessandro Lanzoni and Bernardo Guerra on piano and drums. Adam is an endorsing artist for Remic Microphones and D’Adarrio Orchestral.
